Scottyman proudly uses the following applications on the Windows PC Platform:
Adobe Photoshop:
Adobe Photoshop is Scottyman's professional photo editing and manipulation software of choice. This powerful tool can produce custom pixel-based graphics for print or web media, and artwork can easily be applied or manipulated further in other Creative Suite applications.
Adobe Illustrator:
Adobe Illustrator is Scottyman's #1 most beloved software application EVER! This is the premier tool of choice for making logos and custom illustrations that are infinitely scalable. It offers powerful tools like 3D modeling, integrated Photoshop filters, save-for-web, and several output options. Vector artwork can then be imported into other Creative Suite Applications like Flash or Photoshop for even more functional or design possibilities.
Adobe In Design:
Scottyman turns to Adobe InDesign when producing print projects that involve complex multi-page layouts. As part of the Adobe Creative Suite family, it efficiently integrates custom illustrations, edited photos and PDF's.
Adobe Acrobat:
When saving digital files for the web, e-mail or print, Scottyman relies on Adobe Acrobat. Not only does it create PDF files, but it offers powerful tools to edit, organize, customize, secure and collaborate over documents.
Macromedia Dreamweaver: (now owned by Adobe)
Scottyman uses Dreamweaver to hand-code standards-based XHTML and CSS that goes into every webpage we make. It's also a fantastic tool for managing multiple web projects, synchronize with servers via FTP, and test compatibility in multiple web browsers.
Macromedia FLASH: (now owned by Adobe)
For awesome interactive web content, Scottyman highly recommends Adobe Flash. With greater integration in the Adobe Creative Suite, Flash is becoming more powerful than ever. Check out some of our work with Flash in the portfolio.
Microsoft Office Suite:
Yes, Scottyman is one of the few designers that prefer to work on the PC platform. And when it comes to writing documents, producing spreadsheets and managing e-mail calendars and contacts we recommend the Microsoft Office Suite. We strongly dislike the new Office 2007 suite, and recommend using the 2003 suite if you can get your hands on a license.
Photodex Pro Show:
When Scottyman needs to make an impressive slideshow movie, he turns to Photodex Pro Show. Achieve the "Ken Burns" effect with customized pans, zooms, and fades. Add and edit music tracks, embed videos and export to just about anything, including DVD, EXE, MPEG, Flash FLV, HD 1080p, etc.
Intuit Quickbooks:
Scottyman uses Intuit's QuickBooks to track customers, vendors, invoices, and payments received. It's simple to use, and loaded with features. You can start out with the FREE "Simple Start" version or upgrade to other levels like "Pro" or "Premier" depending on the features you require.
Skype:
If you're looking for a great way to stay connected to friends, family and professionals on the web, then Scottyman recommends Skype. It's a wonderful tool that allows voice calling to other computers, as well as cell phones and land lines. When calling computers you can enable your webcam to video chat while also taking advantage of the instant message feature and other fun tools.
Mozilla Firefox:
Mozilla's free Firefox web browser is Scottyman's browser of choice. It's faster, more secure, has a great tabbed interface and keeps up with web development standards much better than Internet Explorer. It also offers extremely useful add-ons; our personal favorites are Web Developer, IE tab and PDF download. If you don't already use the greatest open source browser out there, we encourage you to give Firefox a try!
